At Chincha Coja Goat Ranch, we will help you thrive in the dynamic world of meat goat farming with a trio of exceptional breeds: Savanna, Kiko, and Syfan Black Spanish. Originating from diverse corners of the globe, each breed brings its own unique strengths to the table.
Big & Strong
Savanna Goats
Savanna goats originated from the velds of South Africa and are similar in body type to Boer goats, but they are pure white. These hardy meat goats are known for their good mothering abilities, parasite resistance, and fast growth. Unlike Boer goats, Savanna kids are consistently average-sized at birth but grow quickly into strongly built, well-muscled kids. Many of our Savanna kids are ready to go to market at 90 days, averaging 55-60 lbs, and consistently fetch top prices.
Many meat goat producers use a Savanna buck to cover Kiko and Spanish does to produce stocky kids that command top prices. Despite the does not being all-white, a Savanna buck will consistently produce all-white kids.
Popular & Easy to Raise
Kiko Goats
Kiko goats are a meat breed that originated in New Zealand. Developed in the 1980s by crossing feral goats with dairy goats such as Nubian, Saanen, and Toggenburg breeds, the goal was to produce a breed with a fast rate of growth, good mothering abilities, and parasite resistance. Because of these qualities, Kikos have become extremely popular, especially in the past decade, and continue to gain a wide following.
Easy to Feed & Raise
Syfan Black Spanish Goats
Black Spanish Goats in the U.S., from foundation herds like Syfan and Kensing, are known for their parasite resistance, excellent mothering, and aggressive foraging habits. They will consume forage that other goats turn their noses at. Due to these qualities, they have been gaining popularity in recent years and are commonly used as “recips” for show goats. This breed is ideal for owners seeking a tough breed that requires very little input.
